Campbell Shipyard Dry-Dock Salvage
The WWII era wooden "Dry-Dock 3" belonging to Campbell Shipyard sunk in 40' of water in south San Diego Bay. The salvage required cutting the 200' x 80' structure into lift-able sections using an in-house designed and built steel "chisel" weighing over 10,000 lbs. Over 1000 tons of wood, concrete, and steel was cut and removed by clam-shell and placed onto material barges to be later unloaded and trucked out for recycling and disposal. The work was successfully completed in 32 days with zero incidents and the bay bottom left clean of debris.
