When Eight Marines and a Sailor assigned to Bravo Company, Battalion Landing Team 1st Battalion, 4th Marines, perished at sea after a AAV sunk in approximately 400 feet of water off the coast of San Clemente Island, Ca . the U.S. Navy moved quickly to expedite the deployment of critical assets to recover the remains of the Marines and Sailor, as well as raise the AAV. Pacific Maritime Group, Inc. had heavy lift offshore salvage and recovery equipment on another Navy project in the vicinity and was able to rapidly divert its resources to join the recovery team. Together with the Navy’s Undersea Rescue Command, Phoenix International, HOS Dominator and other key team members, PMG was able to perform a safe recovery quickly, respectful and dignified manner. All hands were deeply honored and humbled by the sacrifice these young men made for their Country and extend their heartfelt condolences to loved one of the deceased.
